Included in our elite package are the following:
- Transportation will be provided from the Albany (GA) airport or Albany bus station to the race expo or hotel on Friday, March 5th free of charge.
- Transportation back to the Albany (GA) airport or Albany bus station will also be provided after the race free of charge.
- Free housing for one night (March 5th) will be provided at our official race hotel, subject to availability. A limited number of hotel rooms will be available to our elite athletes ONLY. Please note that hotel rooms will be shared; each elite runner will be paired with another elite runner of the same gender. If you are traveling with family members or other guests, you will have to make other arrangements for accommodations.
- Complimentary pasta dinner the evening before the race and breakfast on race morning will also be provided to our elite athletes.
- Race entry fee will be waived.
- Lunch will be provided to our elite runners and their guests after the marathon.
To qualify for these elite benefits you must be 18 years of age or older and you must complete the “Application for Elite Status” in its entirety, providing proof of having completed a marathon in the last twenty-four months at or under 2:30 (for men) or 2:55 (for women). Applications will be reviewed as they are received, and notification will be issued promptly.
The application deadline for elite consideration is February 1, 2011. There is an application fee of $50 which must be submitted along with the form for consideration. If your request for elite status is not accepted, this money will be returned to you immediately. If your application is accepted, this money will be used to hold your spot and will be refunded after you complete the marathon. If for any reason you need to cancel, you may do so without penalty, provided we are notified by February 1, 2009. If you do not cancel your application by that date and you do not run the marathon, you will forfeit the entire amount of deposit.
Apply early, as there are only a limited number of elite spots available and there has been tremendous interest in previous years. Applications will be considered on a “first come first served” basis.
